丝绸 silk cloth  丝毫 the slightest amount or degree
丝（ ）像两卷捆在一起的丝线，指的当然是蚕丝。因为丝线很细，所以人们会用“丝”来形容精致的东西，古代有些乐器也是用丝线制造的。
This was a pictogram of two reels of silk threads tied together （ ）, meaning cocoon silk. Because silk thread is very fine and thin , 丝was later used to describe things that were very delicate. Moreover, 丝also meant string instruments in ancient China, and竹 (zhú: bamboo) meant woodwind instruments.
