Suited to those who grasp basic Chinese structures and accumulate a certain number of vocabulary, this level enables them to use more complicated structures to communicate in certain circumstances.

Lesson 1 Making a phone call (打电话)
This text is about telephone conversations. The students are expected to use the common words over telephone calls skillfully through the dialogues. Besides, you’ll learn how to read the telephone numbers and a common sentence structure “告诉﹢双宾语”.
Lesson 2 Going to the library (去图书馆)
On their way to the library, two students are talking about how to borrow books from the library, and how the reading-room in the library looks like. Through the conversation, you are expected to learn how to use the interrogative pronoun “怎么” (how) and the modal verb “can” “可以”.
Lesson 3 A profile of Beijing (介绍北京)
The text talks about the well-known architectures in Beijing. You are expected to learn how to use the words and phrases about directions through the conversations. Besides, you will learn how to use the resultative complement and its interrogative sentence structure.
Lesson 4 Taking the bus (乘公共汽车)
This text is a conversation about asking the way and how to take a bus. You are expected to learn how to join in such a topic skillfully through the dialogues. Besides, you will learn some preposition structures and a sentence structure 有时候……，有时候…(sometime…sometimes)
Lesson 5 A birthday party (生日晚会)
This text is a conversation about how to have a birthday party. You are expected to learn the right pattern of a sentence with a time noun as the subject, and the right way to read numbers about year, month and day.
Lesson 6 Attending a lecture (听讲座)
This text is a conversation about the theme of a lecture in the national library they will attend. You are expected to learn how to use the sentence structure with a time noun as an adverbial and how to express the numbers in the right way.
Lesson 7 Talking about age (谈年龄)
This text is a conversation asking about the age. You are expected to learn the right way of asking the age and the relevant expressions.
Lesson 8 A family banquet (家庭宴会)
This text is a conversation in a family banquet, which is a treat to an old friend who haven’t met for years. You are expected to learn how to form an approximate number with two number, how to ask reasons or how with “怎么”and the auxiliary word “了”.
Lesson 9 Going to the cinema (看电影)
This text is a conversation about seeing a moive. Through the dialogue, you are expected to learn how to use the indication pronoun “这么” and the auxiliary word “着”.
Lesson 10 Fruit-picking festival (采摘节)
This text is a conversation about the experience of attending the fruit-picking festival. Through the dialogue, you are expected to learn how to use the auxiliary word “了” (to indicate a past tense) and the preposition “为了” (for or in order to).
Lesson 11 Visiting the Great Wall (参观长城)

Lesson 12 Talking about a job (谈工作)
This text is a conversation about the work in publishing house. You will learn how to classify the words for time and the function of complement of time.
Lesson 13 Taking the train (坐火车)
This text is a conversation about taking the train. Through the dialogue, you are expected to learn about going on business trips. You will also learn the auxiliary word “过”and the measure word “趟”.
Lesson 14 Talking the weather (谈天气)
This text is a conversation about the weather and the relating sports activities in each season. Through the dialogue, you will learn about the weather in Beijing and the characteristics of four seasons. Besides, you will learn the difference of the word 爱 (love) as a verb and an adverb, and the sentence structure 一…就…(once…you will…).

This text is a conversation about the sightseeing feelings to Shangdong and something about Confucius. Through the dialogues, you’ll learn about some famous scenic spots in China. Besides, you’ll learn the sentence structure 有点儿with an adjective, and the usage of 上、下、这.

This text is a brief introduction to China, talking about its size, population and the rivers. Through the dialogue, you will also learn the structure of 越……越… (the more …the more…) and the grammatical function of the predicate sentence.
Lesson 20 Zealous Help (热心帮助)
This text is about how to look for a book through a catalog at the library. And in the dialogue, two girls talk about their interests in Chinese culture, especially in Chinese poems, which is very impressive. You’ll also learn how to use the expressions 差不多(nearly) and 只要(if).
