This course is for non-native Chinese speakers to understand Chinese in a very short time. All the lessons are in the form of dialogues and simple texts, involving such communicative items as living, studying, social activities and working in China.

Practice with this course enables you to improve your listening skills step by step, and you can communicate more effectively with Chinese native speakers in various settings.

There is a total of 7 levels in this module.


1. This level is ideal for beginners who have mastered 200 basic Chinese words.
2. This level cover social activities for everyday life, school study, and social communication, including greetings, number, time, shopping, transportation, food and drink, hobbies, orientation, lodging, life services, medical treatment, weather, clothes, portrait description, instant messaging, and much more.
3. By the end of this level, you are expected to understand about 800 Chinese words and some common expressions.
4. Twelve lessons in all. It is equal to Beginner Level.

1. It is ideal for learners who have basic listening and speaking skills, and mastered simple Chinese sentence structures and at least 800 words or phrases.
2. Various activities for everyday life, school study and social communication, such as shopping, ordering a meal, asking questions, seeing a doctor, visiting friends etc.
3. All samples and exercises are framed within certain situations with strong functional orientations. It is designed to improve your listening comprehension for everyday conversations.
4. Eighteen lessons in all.

1. Learn about 1600 common characters and phrases, including some names of places, people, and countries.
2. Various activities for everyday life, school study and social communication.
3. Practise tones, rhymes and syllables; identify words and sentence structures and correct use of numbers, time and grammar formats.
4. Eighteen lessons in all. This level is equal to the Elementary Level of Chinese Syllabus.



1. Learn about 2000 common characters and phrases, including names of places, people, and countries.
2. Twelve lessons in the form of dialogues and simple texts, involving such communicative items as living, studying, social activities and working in China. By the end of this level, you are expected to have developed fluent Chinese speaking skills.
3. Eighteen lessons in all.




1. This level is ideal for those who have a vocabulary of 2500 words and fairly good listening and speaking skills.
2. It has in total 18 lessons. Each session is divided into two parts: short text, and dialogue discussion, aiming to train students’ ability to listen and understand long paragraphs.
3. It is equal to the Intermediate Level of Chinese Syllabus.




1. Learn about 2500 words.
2. It has in total 18 lessons, including such more complex communicative items as marriage, education, law, industry and computers.
3. By the end of this level, you are expected to understand complex paragraphs with greater confidence.





1. This advanced level is intended for the students with a vocabulary of 3500 words.
2. List 600 new words with Chinese Pinyin and English explanation.
3. It has a total 18 lessons, including such more complex communicative items as social culture, news broadcasting, and specialized work. Each lesson consists of intensive and extensive listening that trains the users to understand broadcasting, TV programs and news.
4. It is equal to the Intermediate or Upper-Intermediate level of the Chinese Syllabus.
